New Docklands Park redevelopment completes

Home of MPavilion fully open to the public

December 1 2017

The redevelopment of New Docklands Park was completed in two stages and saw the transformation of the eastern section of the park.

The first stage of the site’s redevelopment was completed in 2016, when MPavilion was relocated from its exhibition site in the Queen Victoria Gardens. The second stage, completed by MALA Studio, involved landscaping the site and creating new spaces for public appropriation. Speaking to ArchitectureAU in 2016, MALA director Campbell Morris said, “The MPavilion is such a dynamic piece of architecture, it was important the landscape did not try to compete with it.

The stage 2 programme included the construction of a multi-purpose sports court, exercise stations, ping pong tables, daybeds, seats, gardens and open green space.

The redevelopment is now complete and fully open to the public.
