In 2016 AL_A was appointed by ADG group to design a strategic masterplan for a network of 39 retail-led neighbourhood centres in Moscow. Each site was previously a Soviet-era cinema.
The vision for this network of centres is to create focal points for Moscow’s peripheral communities. Each neighbourhood centre has 30% of its programme dedicated to social, cultural and educational activities derived from the specific district it serves, alongside an attractive retail offer with an exceptional range of brands.
Five of the multi-functional neighbourhood centres have just opened in Moscow. They contain multi-screen high-comfort cinemas, food halls and restaurants as well as educational and entertainment spaces. All the buildings have been completed by Moscow based architects.
