A unique moment in time for Lord’s Media Centre

March 2 2020

Lord’s Media Centre has been captured at a unique moment in time. AL_A’s Daniel Wood and Imogen Newton visited the Cricket Ground to document the building, following the demolition of the Compton and Edrich stands.

In the early hours of the morning, the Media Centre was enveloped in fog, seemingly suspended above the grass.

By midday the fog had lifted to reveal the world’s first all-aluminium, semi-monocoque building in bright sunlight.

The Media Centre was designed by Future Systems and fitted out by Pendennis Shipyard, using the latest advances in boat building technology. It was awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize in 1999.
