Amanda to speak at the National Architecture Conference in Melbourne

Director: Amanda Levete to talk about risk in architecture

Posted by ala | May 13 2015

Amanda Levete will be a guest speaker at the Australian Institute of Architects’ National Architecture Conference in Melbourne on 16 May to discuss the changing role of risk in the profession.

A video talk by Amanda will use a number of AL_A’s projects to illustrate how we have confronted, battled and managed risk.

This conference will explore a troubled nexus, between the architectural necessity of risk-taking and a building environment predicated on the minimisation of risk.

Risk 2015 will be a conference of conferring, combining the presentation of great architectural projects from around the world with the ideas, narratives and motivations that lie behind that work. Sessions will include a range of keynote speakers from Europe, America and Asia, as well as extended panel discussions and short interrogative sessions bringing together the work and ideas of many Australian architects. The National Architecture Conference 2015 will ask one core question: ‘What is the changing role of risk in architecture?’

The conference will take place from 14 to 16 May at the Melbourne Exhibition and Conference Centre.
